On account of social distancing during the pandemic, we are holding an online parish mission in place of the live mission we had planned. Our presenter is Fr Mike Schmitz, courtesy of a mission he led at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Woodlands, Texas. Fr Mike is a priest of the Diocese of Duluth MN, where he ministers with students at the University of Minnesota-Duluth Newman Center. He's an author and vibrant speaker who is popular as a mission presenter around the country and as a speaker at Catholic conferences. Read about his food preferences, his best kind of day, and what he likes about being a priest in his own words.
Videos for the three-day mission are below. Ignore the word "Lenten" and the day/date in the Texas parish's title. Fr Mike's themes of Identity, Joy, and Holiness are just as relevant during the Easter season. Each video runs 60--70 minutes.
Join other parishioners at 6:30 each evening (but if you can't watch at that time, choose your own hour). Set up your computer, tablet, or smart phone where you and other household members will be comfortable. Put your feet up if you like! Start the video and enlarge it to full screen or theater mode. You won't doze off during Fr Mike's passionate yet humorous talk.
Throughout our three-day Easter Mission, try to maintain a sense of retreat. Take time to reflect on Fr Mike's words after he speaks, and set aside time to read from the Bible and pray during the day. If it doesn't distract you too much, take a "selfie" of you and your household watching the video or another way you're keeping in the spirit of the Mission; send your photo to our webmaster.
If you enjoy the online mission, please consider making a thanksgiving donation to our parish via check, eGiving, or PayPal.
